Before we arrive

• Vacuum carpets, rugs, furniture, and areas where pets spend time. Get under cushions and furniture too. Seal the vacuum bag and put it in the outside bin
• Pick up toys, clothing, pet beds, and loose items from floors
• Clear as much floor space as possible for treatment
• Mow or tidy heavily overgrown areas outside when possible
• Remove pet food and water bowls from treatment areas
• Have pets out of the treatment area during service
• Have your pets treated for fleas and ticks by your vet, close to the day we come. If the pets are not treated, the fleas come right back. A good tip: if we treat inside, take your pets to the vet while you are out of the home for those 4 hours. One trip, two jobs done
• If we treat inside, plan to be out of the home for at least 4 hours from when we finish, or longer if your technician tells you. Take pets with you
• If we only treat outside, follow the technician’s re-entry instructions before going back in the treated areas

After we treat

• If we treated inside, stay out for at least 4 hours, or longer if your technician tells you.
• Keep vacuuming every day or two for the next 2 weeks. It brings out new fleas so the treatment can get them. Seal the bag and put it in the outside bin.
• You may still see some fleas for up to 2 weeks. Young fleas inside their cocoons can’t be killed until they hatch. If you still see a lot after 2 weeks, call us.
• Do not spray anything over what we treated. Ask us before you shampoo or steam clean the carpets.
• Keep your pets on the flea treatment your vet gives you.

If you cannot do part of this, tell us before we come. We would rather plan around it than find out at the door.

Staying safe after we treat

• Keep people and pets off treated surfaces until they are dry.
• If we treated inside, stay out of the home for at least 4 hours from when we finish. If anything we used needs longer, your technician will tell you.
• Keep children and pets away from any bait or dust we placed. Tell us if you find some and we will move it.
• Wash your hands if you touch a treated area.
• Do not wash or mop the cracks, baseboards and spots we treated. You would be washing off the treatment. Keep cleaning counters and tables like normal.
• Air the rooms out when you get back if you want to.

• If within 24 hours following application you experience symptoms similar to common seasonal illness comparable to the flu, contact your physician or California Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) and Bart's Bugs Be Gone ((661) 751-5542) immediately.

This is not your pesticide notice. California requires a separate written notice before we treat, naming the target pest and the products proposed. You should already have it. If you do not, tell us before we come and we will get you one.
